Good afternoon.

Hello again, as of last night I came up with a brilliant idea!

I have a BoS on my computer. It's a file that's on my other harddrive where I've copied things I've put onto notes and placed the articles in the files.

My BoS is HUGE 997 files and 152 folders. There is a reason why I don't anything into binders or an actual BoS, there's just no way!

If anyone knows how to personalize their desktop, then you've probably have put a picture on your folders to describe the folders content better.

If you don't know what I'm talking about then here's how you do it.

1. Find the folder you wish to personlize
2. Right click the folder and go down to Properties at the very bottom
3. Go to the Customize tab on the far right of the Property window
4. Go to "Choose Picture"
5. Browse your computer and find the picture that you want to put.

And there you go. No matter how many pictures or files you have stored in that folder, it'll only show that picture for now on. You can change it when ever you want too.

But see.. just CHOOSING a picture didn't seem personal to me enough. It wasn't what I wanted and it's taken me nearly a year to figure out why it didn't feel right. Then it occurred to me: Make my own!

I use the GIMP program. It's a free paint program similar to that of Photoshop or MS paint. I'll give you a tutorial, but I do apologize that it IS for GIMP and not PSP or MS Paint.

Anyways, two example folders inside my BoS is my Ailments and Therapies folder (natural cures, tinctures, medicines, and common illnesses and natural remedies) and my Animal Folder.

As you can see, there's nothing wrong with them. In fact they're rather good pictures to use. But I got them off of Google and that to me just sounds... wrong I guess.

So, I've learned to make background images and manipulate pictures and the like and came up with an idea. I created these instead.

I shrunk these down, click on them to see the full size. They are 500 by 500 so that they cover the maximum amount of space on the folder. That way you can see both the name and the details a bit better. The animal one (especially the leopard.) was a lot harder then I originally thought. I cut out each animal from a different picture and used different techniques to show off each one at it's best. I think it turned out beautifully, even if some of the animals aren't cut out perfectly.

So don't let anyone tell you that just because you have your BoS on your computer, that you can't personalize and customize it to your liking. There are a lot of things that you can do to make it beautiful!

Enjoy!
